Gloucester City Football Club

Gloucester City AFC, nicknamed ‘The Tigers’,  currently play in the Football Conference Blue Square North (two divisions below the Football League). Managed by former Leeds, Wigan and Bristol Rovers striker David Mehew, City are Gloucester’s most successful football club, having won promotion to the Football Conference in 2009 for the first time in its 125 year history.

David Mehew has built a squad of the best young talent from Gloucestershire, Bristol and beyond, complimented by a few experienced ex-professionals. After securing safety last season, the club is looking for a comfortable mid-table finish this year whilst laying the foundations of a team capable of pushing for promotion in the future.

The long term aim of the club is clear: to become Gloucester’s first Football League side. After winning promotion in 2009 on a small budget whilst playing outside of the city, the potential for future success is massive: with the of support of the city’s 130,000 residents there is no reason why Gloucester cannot be successful in all areas of sport and really put this city on the map.

The Tigers currently groundshare with Cheltenham Town FC as the club’s Meadow Park stadium in Gloucester was destroyed by the disastrous flooding of 2007. They are aiming to be back in the city in a new purpose built stadium by summer 2012.

Admission is £12 for adults,  £6 concessions (12-16 yrs, NUS, 60+ yrs, armed forces) and FREE for children under 12 yrs.
