Tower Tours

If you are over six years old and are able to climb up and down 269 tours you are welcome to join a tour up Gloucester Cathedral's tower. Enjoy seeing the bells and the stunning rooftop views. The tours cost £7 per Adult and £1 per child (6yrs - 16yrs). Children under the age of 6 are not permitted due to Health and Safety.

Crypt Tours

Cathedral Crypt tours take place daily at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
Crypt tours are priced at £3 for adults, £1 for children aged 4-16 and under 4s are free.

Descend the steps from the South Transept to discover the hidden subterranean level of the Cathedral. This is where you’ll find remains of the very earliest parts of the building.

Occasionally tours may be cancelled at the last minute due to health and safety reasons. If you are visiting specifically for a Crypt Tour, we recommend that you contact the Cathedral Office (01452 528095) in advance to check before you travel.

A Cathedral Guide will collect you from outside the entrance to the Gift Shop at the times specified. Tours last around 20 minutes.
Tickets can be purchased in the Gift Shop in advance of the tour start times.

Road Directions

From the North: Get off the M5 at Junction 11, at the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A40 (signposted Gloucester/Cirencester). At Elmbridge Court roundabout take the 4th exit (signposted Ross). At the next roundabout take the first exit onto the A38 and then at the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A417 (St. Oswald's Road). At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A417. Keep left around Westgate Island and take the first left into Westgate Street. For the closest car park take the first left into the car park. Walk out of the car park and turn left, walk up Westgate Street. After a short walk, turn left in to College Street and into the Cathedral Grounds.

From the South: Get off the M5 at Junction 12, at the roundabout take the first exit onto the B4008. At the Cross Keys roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A38. At the next roundabout continue forward. At the traffic lights continue forward (stay in the left hand lane, signposted Ross) onto the A430, Secunda Way. Continue forward on this by pass until you come to a roundabout, stay in the left hand lane and take the 2nd exit (on to Hempstead Lane). Follow the road until you arrive at a T Junction. At the T Junction turn right. Keep in the right hand lane and take the exit at the roundabout. Immediately take the exit left into Westgate Street. Take the 1st left into the car park. This is the closest car park to the Cathedral. Walk out of the car park and turn left, walk up Westgate Street. After a short walk, just after the begining of the pedestrianised are turn left in to College Street and in to the Cathedral grounds.

Public Transport Directions

Short stroll from Gloucester Bus and Train Station. From the Train Station, cross Bruton Way and walk into the Bus Station. Walk through the archway in the Bus Station and out on to Station Road. Continue forward into Clarence Street, at the end turn right into Eastgate Street. At the pedestrianised cross road continue forward into Westgate Street. After a short walk, turn right down College Court and in to the Cathedral grounds.

-There may be days when access to some areas of the areas of the Cathedral is restricted due to services and other major events.
Sunday services are held at 7.40am, 8.00am, 10.15am and 3.00pm.
-You are most welcome to join these services, but please be aware that Cathedral access will be restricted.
-Recommended Sunday viewing times: 11.45am-2.45pm.
