Home to an excellent mix of high street coffee shops, independent and chain restaurants and some fascinating historic pubs Southgate street is the perfect area to stop and break up your journey between Gloucester City Centre and Gloucester Quays.  One of the highlights has to be Robert Raikes House, a refurbish histoirc pub that was the home of Robert Raikes founder of the Sunday School movement.

Things to do in Southgate Street 

There are plenty of things to do and look out for in Southgate Street.  At the cross is St Michaels Tower, a heritage centre which has a range of events throughout the year.  You can also hire audio trails to tour the city.  There are two distinctive landmarks to look out for on Southgate Street.  Bakers Clock above Bakers Jewellers Chimes on the hour and the Emporer Nerva statue.
