Although Gloucester is well known across the UK for Rugby, the City also supports various other sports. If watching the Cherry and Whites at Kingsholm is not your scene, then why not enjoy many of the other spectacular sports on offer including football, swimming and running, to mention a few.

Gloucester is an excellent pedigree in producing world class rugby. In today's professional era, this is where the Cherry and Whites take on the best teams in Europe. Gloucester Rugby has one of the best attendance records of all clubs, there is always a terrific atmosphere at Kingsholm, one of the best rugby grounds in the country.

If you prefer football you can roar on Gloucester City Football Club in the conference north. If you are visiting for the weekend and want to catch your team on the TV most of the pubs in the City show a wide range of live sport.

GL1 Leisure Centre boasts spectacular architecture and offers the very best facilities for sports and other activities. There is a national short-course competition swimming pool which hosts British and European swimming events, a major indoor events area, gym, aerobics/dance studio, four squash courts, gymnastics hall, dedicated martial arts area, luxurious sauna, steam room and spa.

Gloucestershire's premier tennis centre has 6 indoor and 4 outdoor courts and the centre is open to everyone - whatever your age or experience. The Oxtalls Tennis Centre also hosts a number of national tennis events and competitions.

Row or Run in Gloucester

Gloucester Rowing Club holds regular regattas on the Gloucester Sharpness Canal and if you are here for a break and enjoy running don't forget your trainers. Gloucester is a compact flat City, excellent to enjoy on foot taking in the historic attractions of the City or run out into the Gloucestershire countryside.

If you prefer to race, there are a number of events organised across the City from 5K up to a full marathon. Each October the Cancer Research 10K series comes to the City, a picturesque route taking in the Cathedral and Historic Docks.
