Summer is a drawing in for Wicker Rabbits.
30th September 2010
The renowned rabbit trio from Walls Roundabout will be making a guest
appearance at the last country fair of the season, in Gloucester.
Artist Helen Lomberg, on behalf of the Gloucester in Bloom committee,
created the three rabbits, which helped secure a gold win for the city
for the fifth consecutive year.
The rabbits have since been a feature at their home on Walls Roundabout,
dubbed 'Rabbit Roundabout'.
Following four accounts of the rabbits either being vandalised or stolen
they are now looking for a new home, which will allow the public to
enjoy them without fear of them being stolen.
After a spell, tucked away healing their wounds the rabbits will have
the opportunity to be back in the publics gaze at the country fair on
Saturday the 2nd October at Hempsted Meadow between 10am - 5pm.
At the fair, the public will have the chance to suggest names for each
of the rabbits.
If anyone can offer the rabbits a home in the city centre for residents
to enjoy please contact Sara Boon, Gloucester City Council, 01452
396279.
Local cabinet member for the environment, Steve Morgan said, "This is an
excellent chance for the rabbits to be seen with the public once again.
It is a shame the criminal actions of a few have led to these enjoyable
sculptures having to be moved. Hopefully these people will appreciate
how much the rabbits have become apart of Gloucester and how much they
are appreciated by the community."
