Doors now open for Crucible at Gloucester Cathedral
Doors now open for Crucible at Gloucester Cathedral
2nd September 2010
Crucible has now opened, with the last two pieces; Marc Quinn's The Artist's Eye, and Helaine Blumenfeld's Flight arriving today directly from the Pangolin Foundry, just in time for the start of the exhibition. Walking through the Cathedral with so many amazing works of art on show is an over-whelming experience and there is a real buzz of excitement in the air.
Yesterday the Cathedral Guides were briefed about the sculptures in the exhibition, which are displayed throughout the Cathedral and grounds, including the crypt and cloisters.
The exhibition maps are now available, costing £1, showing the locations of the sculptures, as well as a short biography of the exhibiting sculptors.
During the past week, the Cathedral photographer has been taking shots of the sculptures in the cathedral as they arrive and the exhibition catalogues are at the printers. The catalogues have yet to be finished and bound and they will be delivered by the middle of next week. This will be a unique document of the exhibition. You can pre-order your catalogue via the Cathedral online shop.
