Folk at the Folk
In conjuction with the Summer in Gloucester Festival and the Three Choirs Festival, a selection of Gloucestershire's best folk musicians will be playing in the beautiful surroundings of the Folk Museum garden from 11am on Saturday 10th July.

Amongst the acts that will be appearing are The Roving Crows. Formed in 2007, this band integrates traditional and modern sounds to create an upbeat, entertaining and energetic experience. The band's roots are in traditional Irish music and count The Levellers and Kila and the Waterboys amongst their influences. Paul O'Neill who originates from Kildare is on lead-vocals/guitar, Caitlin Barrett from Gloucestershire on fiddle/vocals, Marc Miletitch, originally from Paris plays Double Bass/vocals and Josh Balen from Malvern takes on Drums/percussion/vocals. If you didn't manage to Catch The Roving Crows at the Wychwood Festival earlier this year (or even if you did) make sure you come and see them at the Folk Museum.
Also performing, Confoundry appeared at last years Folk at the Folk event. This Stroud based duo (Alex West and Mark Wilderspin) will bring a blend of the best of Americana, original and traditional folk songs to the garden.
The West Wind, a lively four piece Folk band guaranteed to get your toes tapping, formed in 2009. This Gloucestershire based band consists of Sophie Lake (Flute, whistles and vocals), Michael Collins (Banjo, Mandolin, Guitar, Vocals and (occasional Bodhran!), PJ Wall (Guitar and Bodhran) and Noreen O'Connell-Gallagher (Fiddle and Bodhran). They plays a mix of traditional Irish tunes and songs, contemporary songs and original tunes. The strong base and roots of traditional Irish music in the band is underlain by Michael, PJ and Noreen who hail from Ireland, with Sophie originally from Somerset (but having lived for some time in western Ireland) also being strongly influenced in these musical traditions.

This Folk Unplugged event has been organised by Sophie Lake as part of the Gloucester's Musical Connections exhibition at The Folk Museum that is highlighting and celebrating the rich and diverse music tradition in the City. The exhibition is on until 11th September.
Admission to the Museum is free and the Folk Museum is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am - 5pm.
The line up for the day will be:
11am - 12 noon - Confoundry
12 noon to 1pm - The West Wind
1pm to 2pm - The Roving Crows
2pm to 3pm - Irish Dance
