Cinema Under The Stars: Mamma Mia at Llanthony Priory
28th June 2010
Gloucester’s historic Llanthony Priory will be transformed into a giant open-air cinema this summer for a special open air screening of the feel-good movie event of the decade, Mamma Mia.
The one-off event, taking place on Friday 6 August, will feature a massive screen, full surround sound, cocktail bar, DJs from Heart spinning classic tunes and up to 1,000 ABBA fans singing and dancing along to one of the biggest box office hits in recent years.
Tickets for the special screening, which is being organised by marketing gloucester ltd, are £10 each, and are available in person from Gloucester Guildhall, Gloucester Tourist Information Centre and Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet’s information desk, by calling 01452 503050 or by visiting www.thecityofgloucester.co.uk/summer
Organiser Andrew Mitchell-Stead of marketing gloucester ltd said: “Open air cinema screenings have become really popular in recent years, and Mamma Mia has proved to be the biggest crowd puller for this kind of event.”
“We’re very lucky to have wonderful, historic sites such as Llanthony Priory here in Gloucester, and we’re always looking to stage new, fun events in such locations to open them up to a wider audience.”
Llanthony Priory is located in its own grounds next to Gloucestershire College and close to Gloucester Docks and the Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet.
The screening is just one of a series of major events in the city this summer; other attractions include Gloucester Carnival, a free Music Festival, fireworks, family fun days and funfair in Gloucester Park.
