Gloucester Guildhall is proud to present Highly Strung featuring Lauren Pritchard

3rd May 2010

Highly Strung Gloucester Guildhall

Another new Island signing, all the way from Tennessee, who has recently been in the studio with Mumford and Sons, 22-year-old Lauren Pritchard from Jackson, Tennessee, has a back story - moving to LA aged 16, failing to make it as the singer in a reggae band of all things, lodging with Lisa-Marie Presley, starring in Spring Awakening on Broadway - that would be interesting enough on its own.

But there's more to her than that, in the shape of a debut EP, The Jackson Sessions which showcases a beautiful, soaring voice and a set of songs (co-written with Ed Harcourt and the hitmaker-for-hire Eg White, and featuring Mumford & Sons) that roll and swell with Carole King - and Norah Jones - like country - soul catchiness. Now based in Britain and signed to Island, Pritchard sounds like a sure thing.

Highly Strung takes place in the Guildhall's stunningly intimate oak panelled cinema, will have cabaret seating and a cool contemporary feel.

Saturday 8th May 2010 // Tickets £6 // Doors 19:30pm // Cabaret Seating
