May Bank Holiday and June Half Term Events in Gloucester

With another Bank Holiday approaching and June half term, why not take advantage of the various events and activities that are occurring in Gloucester during this time. From pirates to Alice in Wonderland and exhibitions to music events, there is something for everyone to experience and enjoy.
Gloucester Quays Designer Outlet are holding a special Alice in Wonderland themed event from Saturday 29th May until Monday 31st May. Shoppers can enjoy various themed entertainment in the Mall from 11am until 4pm each day and on Sunday 30th May there is an Alice in Wonderland Birthday Party in the Upper Deck for parents and their one year olds. There are limited tickets so parents are advised to register their details at the Customer Services desk at the Designer Outlet in order to get a ticket.
Gloucester Cathedral has a day of FREE creative activities on Friday 4th June from 10am until 4pm. Families can make a clay model of a gargoyle or an angel, design a mosaic stained-glass window, try brass rubbing, or take part in the Angel Delight trail. Visitors can also experience the Teddy Trail with a guided tour of the Cathedral.
There are also various craft workshops at both the City and Folk Museum over Half Term for children to enjoy and be entertained. There is the chance to create all sorts of items from mini hot air balloons and paper planes, to creating your own species of animal and a prey and predator board to celebrate 2010 as the international year of biodiversity. All of these events are completely FREE but children must be supervised at all times.
Gloucester Guildhall and Cafe Rene are holding some great music events over the weekend. Cafe Rene have organised a Gade Roots Outdoor All Day Music Festival in aid of Sue Ryder on Saturday 29th May to commence from 2pm and they have 2 different DJ’s in their cellar bar on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th for anyone planning an evening in Gloucester. Also, the Guildhall have Field Music performing on Friday 4th June to add to Gloucester’s night entertainment. If comedy is more suited to you then check out Rob Deering is showcasing at the Guildhall on Saturday 5th June with tickets only being £12.
If you looking to relax over half term, then look no further than Nature in Art. Throughout the Bank Holiday and Half Term the Meg Stevens Flowerscapes exhibition is being held there. Her series of paintings, focussing on flowers in their natural habitat are there in order for you to capture and enjoy. What’s more, there is also a Wildlife Art Society Annual Exhibition at Nature in Art from Saturday 29th May until Sunday 6th June.
