There are various activities and places to visit throughout the City over Bank Holiday Weekend from 30th April until 3rd May.
It is the opening day of the Tooth and Claw Exhibition at Gloucester City Museum on 1st May. A ground breaking education initiative that explores how modern Britain feels about predators and the issues around them. Professional nature photographers Peter Cairns and Mark Hamblin will inspire visitors to think differently about predators. The museum is open from 10am until 5pm with FREE admission.
Alternatively, the Folk Museum are hosting an Evening Chorus on 1st May. To celebrate the Year of Biodiversity, they are holding a walk from the Folk Museum to Alney Island to hear the evening bird song. Refreshments will be available from 5.30pm with the walk to begin at 6pm. Pre booking is essential, please call 01452 396868 for further information and to book your place.
For something a bit different the Cathedral are hosting a FREE Bank Holiday Organ Recital on Monday 3rd May at 12.30pm. Matthew Martin from Westminster Cathedral with a large screen projection of the performer.
If it is a music event that you are looking for then head over to Cafe Rene on Saturday 1st May for their Fat Digester Gig. Kicking off at 10.30pm there will be a variety mix of funk, dub, jazz and hip hop music to keep the crowds entertained. The event is free before 11pm or £2 after. If you are looking to relax over the weekend then why not enjoy a three hour, two course lunch along the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal on board the King Arthur. This will set sail on Sunday 2nd May from 12.30pm until 3.30pm. Tickets must be pre booked. For more information please contact 01452 318200.
Also on Saturday 1st May, the Oliver Cromwell Paddlewheeler, part of English Holiday Cruises, is holding a Showboat night with a 3 course dinner, live entertainment by Roy Paragon’s Jazz Quartet and views over Gloucester Docks.
