TWENTY20 Cricket Festival announced for Gloucester

TWENTY20 Cricket Festival announced for Gloucester

3rd April 2010

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club are pleased to announce that they will play two fixtures in Gloucester this season.

t20 Gloucester will take place on Friday 11th and Sunday 13th June at the Kings School, Gloucester. These Friends Provident t20 matches will see the Gladiators take on the Sussex Sharks and Kent Spitfires.

GCCC have been working closely with marketing gloucester ltd to secure funding to bring cricket back to the city, having made the difficult decision to call time on the four day game there for the 2009 season.

GCCC Chief Executive, Tom Richardson stated: "Historically it has always been important to Gloucestershire cricket that we take the show on the road. What is really exciting this year is that we have a whole new format for Gloucester. T20 cricket is a significant part of the domestic programme. This form of cricket has really captured the imagination of the next generation of supporters; families and young people both male and female alike and we are very confident that Gloucester will be a terrific venue for it. We are very grateful to the City Council, the Kings School, Marketing Gloucester and Richard Graham for all their support."

Chief Executive of Gloucester City Council, Julian Wain adds: "I am absolutely delighted that t20 cricket is coming to Gloucester. This will be great for the Club and the city and will bring lots of people to watch the games and enjoy what Gloucester has to offer. I hope too that this will be supported by people from all parts of the city, particularly young people"

The Headmaster of The King's School, Mr Alistair Macnaughton, said: "We are delighted that t20 is coming to Archdeacon Meadow - and pupils, staff and parents will all be delighted at the prospect of two exciting fixtures. It is excellent news for the School, but - even more importantly - for the city itself."

Tickets will be available to purchase from 1st April 2010.
