Deck the Stores! Gloucester’s Best Dressed Christmas Window
Deck the Stores! Gloucester’s Best Dressed Christmas Window
17th November 2010
Marketing Gloucester Ltd and Gloucester City Council are throwing down the gauntlet for city retailers to create fun and festive window displays to help spread Christmas cheer and compete in the annual best dressed window competition.
Each year a selection of city businesses big and small battle it out to win the accolade, and for 2010 organisers are hoping for more entries than ever.
There’s a distinctly Dickensian feel to Christmas in Gloucester this year, with a brand new traditional Victorian Christmas Market at Gloucester Quays and Victorian Fayre at the New Inn, so retailers are welcome to join in with the period theme or come up with stunning Christmas window concepts of their own. All applications will be judged on impact, style and creativity.
Verity Brain, City Centre Co-ordinator at Marketing Gloucester Ltd said: “Whether a store is modern or traditional in its style, the Christmas theme can be adopted and adapted to suit a particular retailer’s needs and clientele. The Christmas period is a time of year when consumers want fairy tale and it’s down to retailers to deliver it - with bells on.”
Paul James, Leader of Gloucester City Council added: “Christmas provides retailers with their best sales opportunity of the year and creates a great ambience in the city. After a tough year for businesses, this challenge gives shops and stores a chance to do something fun and affordable which also helps to bring customers through their doors.”
This year judges will look at four different categories which include Independent Retailers, Multiple Retailers, Charity Retailers and Salon Retailers, and judging will take place on December 15th.
