Business is booming in Gloucester

Business is booming in Gloucester

24th October 2010

Despite all the recent talk of economic gloom businesses in Gloucester have every reason to be optimistic.

Over the course of the past 18 months, some 140 businesses have either chosen to start up in the city or to expand their existing operations.

The list is impressive. It boasts hotels, the creative sector, sport, financial services, regeneration, food outlets and more.

Paul James cabinet member for regeneration and leader of the council said: “This speaks volumes for the city. There is so much positive activity going on, it shows how attractive a place to live, work and visit our city is.”

“A wide range of investors have realised the city is the place to do business with it's ambitious plans for growth, good transport links, excellent schools and fantastic business opportunities.

“The city has something to offer for all investors with an attractive portfolio of development sites, competitive rentals, a wide range of accommodation and a growing business market.

The city council's Gloucester Means Business Grant Scheme has proved to be a big success by offering financial support to newly established, expanding or relocating businesses in the city. To date, the scheme has helped eight businesses with their rent.
