Apple Day and the launch of The Gloucestershire Folk Map
Apple Day and the launch of The Gloucestershire Folk Map
21st October 2010
The Gloucestershire Folk Map will be launched at 2pm during Apple Day,
the yearly celebration held at the Folk Museum of Gloucestershire's
thriving Apple Industry. For one day only the traditional cider mill,
housed in the on-site cider house will be in action with the help of
Checkers the horse. Visitors of all ages can have a go at crushing,
pressing and peeling apples using a range of traditional methods and
modern gadgets.
Along with apples and pears by the bag load, local cider, perry and
apple juice will be available to try and buy throughout the day, plus
apple cakes, flans, pies and other goodies to eat. A team of local
experts will also be on hand to give advice on everything from making
your own cider, to tips on fruit tree surgery.
The Gloucestershire Folk Map is a guide to the customs and traditions of
Folk Music in Gloucestershire. It contains a map to sites in the county
of particular significance and a calendar of events and days of
interest.
There will be live and recorded music playing from 10am - 5pm and
Lassington Oak Morris Dancers will be performing at 3pm.
Saturday 23rd October from 10am - 4pm
