Success for Gloucester at First Ever Cotswolds Tourism Awards

Gold and Silver winners of the first ever Cotswold Tourism Awards have been announced.
The 2010 awards are co-ordinated by the local tourist board (Cotswolds and Forest of Dean Tourism) and have been agreed upon by a knowledgeable and fiercely independent group of judges.
Above all, the awards celebrate our hardworking local tourism industry in 2010.
The judges were Katie Jarvis (Guide book and Cotswold Life author); Rob Rees (The Cotswold Chef and VisitEngland Board Member), Shane Blackwell (Quality in Tourism (Accommodation Inspection agency)), Edward Gillespie (Cheltenham Racecourse and Chair of Cotswolds And Forest of Dean Tourism), Anne Bartlett (Blue Badge Guide), Chris Dee and Sarah Tyler – Cotswolds and Forest of Dean Tourism.
Chris Dee, Tourism Manager for Cotswolds and Forest of Dean Tourism commented: ‘Tourism in the Cotswolds is a continuing success story and these awards are our way of highlighting some of the many business who have raised standards and achieved something new for 2010’.
There was double success for the City in the Retail catergory with the Beatrix Potter Shop picking up a Gold Award and Gloucester Antiques Centre a Silver Award.
Gloucester Guilldhall scooped a silver award in the Visitor Attraction of the Year Catergory.

Silver – Holiday Inn Express, Cheltenham

B&B of the Year:
Gold – Windrush House
Silver – East House
Silver – Kissing Gate
Self-Catering Business of the Year:
Gold – Westley Farm
Silver – Broadway Manor
Silver –Railway Cottages
Visitor Attraction of the Year:
Gold – WWT Slimbridge
Silver – Gloucester Guild Hall
Silver – Cotswold Farm Park
(Special honorary mention for Paul Barnett’s guided walks of the Purton Barge Graveyard)
Large Event of the Year:
Gold – Science Festival
Silver – Tewkesbury Food and Drink Festival
Small Event of the Year:
Gold – Stroud International Textile Festival
Silver – Winchcombe Walking Festival
Pub of the Year:
Gold – Woolpack, Slad
Silver – The Royal Oak, Prestbury
Silver – The Crown at Frampton
Retail Tourism Award:
Gold – Beatrix Potter shop
Silver – New Brewery Arts
Silver – Gloucester Antiques Centre
Tourism Business of the Year:
