The New Inn Courtyard

The New Inn in Gloucester is a charming hotel with a 14th century building, described as the finest example of a medieval gallery in Britain.

The traditional grill and carvery restaurant at The New Inn hotel serves delicious classic English food. There are four bars including an award winning Real Ale that offers 12 different cask ales and a coffee shop serving teas and cakes. The restaurant can accommodate up to 48 people.

There is also a function room, The Regency Suite that can accommodate up to 80 people available for weddings or other events.

  • Parking (charge) - Just off the non-pedestrianised part of Eastgate Street The NCP Hampden Way car park and St. Michael's Square have both received a 'Park Mark' award from the police. NCP rooftop multi-storey at Kings Walk and Mall Eastgate Centre. Digital displays on the approaches to Gloucester indicate the number of spaces available in these car parks. The St. Michael's Square and Mall Eastgate Centre car parks are off Brunswick Road. Brunswick Road is closed to most vehicles at its junction with Eastgate Street. You’ll need to enter it via Parliament Street or Spa Road from Southgate Street/Bristol Road or via Park Road from Trier Way. Follow the signs for The Mall car park. At the very end of Westgate Street is a large car park.

Road Directions

From the North: Leave Junction 11 of the M5 and follow signs to Gloucester (A40). At the Elmbridge Court roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A40. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A38 and at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A430. Continue on the A430 (Kingsholm Road) until you get to a set of traffic lights. At the lights turn right onto Gouda Way. Take the next left on to Park Street and then turn left into Hare Lane. This is the closest car park to St. John’s Church. Come out of the car park and head left towards town (Sainsbury’s on your left). At the end of that road turn right onto Northgate Street and continue until you see the New Inn on your left hand side.

From the South: Leave Junction 12 of the M5 and immediately follow the signs to Gloucester. At the Cross Keys roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A38. At Waterwell’s roundabout take the first exit. At the major traffic lights turn right onto Cole Avenue (A38). At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Finlay Road (A38). At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Eastern Avenue and at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit (Eastern Avenue). At the traffic lights turn left onto Metz Way. At the traffic lights turn left on to Bruton Way. Continue forward onto Black Dog Way and continue forward at the next set of traffic lights. Take the next left on to Park Street and then turn left into Hare Lane. This is the closest car park to St. John’s Church. Come out of the car park and head left towards town (Sainsbury’s on your left). At the end of that road turn right onto Northgate Street and continue until you see the New Inn on your left hand side.


Public Transport Directions

If you arrive by Train come out of the Train Station and cross Bruton Way and walk into the Bus Station. Walk to the far end of the Bus Station and out on to Market Parade. Cross the road and walk up Market Parade towards the city centre. Turn right into St. Aldates Street and continue (past the Co-Operative bank on your right and Debenhams on your left) until you reach Northgate Street. Turn left onto Northgate Street and cross the road. Continue until you see the New Inn on your left hand side.
