Hotel Ratings Explained
All Stars
All accommodation is now being rated nationally by stars. There are nine main accommodation types, or designations and a rating of 1 to 5 stars. Therefore, a hotel awarded 3 stars the rating will be 3* Hotel and for a guest house with 4 stars, the rating will be 4* Guest Accommodation.
We want you to get the most out of your stay, so to help you choose the accommodation you want, here's a summary of the rating system:

2 stars - well presented or well run
3 stars - good level of quality and comfort
4 stars - excellent standard throughout
5 stars - exceptional with a degree of luxury
Gold and Silver Awards
These are awarded to the properties that not only achieve their overall rating but also exceed the expectations within the rating level.
Silver - this award recognises high quality in all areas of the business with very good levels of customer care.
Gold - properties achieving a Gold award will demonstrate exeptional levels of quality, comfort, cleanliness, hospitality and attentive service.
